MORE ABOUT AIR PISTOLS

Air gun shooting is among the most flexible, accessible, diverse, and adaptable shooting activities available today.

Air guns promote gun safety education, fun shooting, marksmanship training, hunter safety education, target practice, biathlons and competition—all the way from local fun matches to world-class events including the World Cup matches, the Pan-American Games, and even the Olympics.

Air guns propel a projectile by use of compressed air or carbon dioxide gas (CO2). Gun-powder is not used in this type of gun.  Common air guns include recreational "BB guns", training models, and high-tech precision air rifles (as seen in the Olympic games).

Safety is always the primary consideration when choosing a location for any shooting sports activity. But an important advantage of training with air guns is that a formal range is not required. Air gun ranges can be set up anywhere there is sufficient space for the activities planned.  We use a large farm with wide open space.

Air guns can also be safely used with a diversity of targets, including knockdowns, spinners, homemade targets, moving targets, metal targets, bulls-eye targets, and pop-ups.

Air guns also make it possible for younger participants to learn early. For example, Kim Rhode started shooting when she was six and won her first Olympic gold medal in double trap at age 17 (in the 1996 Summer Olympics). Patty Spurgin Pitney was just 18 when she won the women’s air rifle gold medal in 1984.
